Underground Railroad Experience

Saturday, June 15 - 10:00 AM

Take an inspiring trip back in time to the year 1821, as you travel in this walking drama with historic characters who welcome you as a freedom seeker. Learn about escaping the realities of slavery, the journey to freedom, and Spring Hill Farm and Massillon's role in the Underground Railroad.

Before or after your show, explore the grounds to get to know the history of our buildings and more about the local Underground Railroad with a farmhouse tour. Hear music of the time period presented by Members of the Canton Folk Song Society. Test your resolve with the Journey to Freedom choose-your-own-path game. Children can enjoy a  scavenger hunt and activities. Concessions will be available throughout the day.

Show times: 10:00am, 11:15am, 12:45pm, 2:00pm, 3:15pm (approximately 45 minutes). NOTE that the 12:45pm performance is an accessibility show and will be presented from the farmhouse porch. All other performances are interactive walking shows through the grounds. Comfortable shoes and clothing should be considered for walking a wooded trail.
