Scheherazade and Stories:

Thursday, January 12 - 6:30 PM

1,001 Nights, a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales, was the inspiration for composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. Learn the story and hear how music brought it to life.

Have you heard of One Thousand and One Nights, aka Arabian Nights? It is a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales where we got the famous story "Aladdin"! It was also the source of inspiration for a Russian composer named Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov when he wrote Scheherazade. Join Canton Symphony Orchestra Associate Conductor, Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz and Stark Library Librarians as they teach us about Scheherazade, the narrator of One Thousand and One Nights, and the piece of music inspired by her stories.
