Have you ever been afraid of the dark? As a little girl Margaret was afraid of the dark until she discovered the stars. Margaret takes us on a journey to discover constellations and ancient cultures, the births and deaths of stars and the innermost workings of our Sun. We’ll drift through a stellar nursery; we’ll experience the process of nuclear fusion, and we’ll witness the fury of a supernova explosion as Margaret teaches us about stars. We learn how elements form and see some of the most distant galaxies. For thousands of years we have looked at the stars with awe and wonder. It was this same awe and wonder that sparked the curiosity of a little girl to learn more about the stars and in the process learned there is no reason to be afraid of the dark.
A “Tonight’s Sky” program showing seasonal constellations and planets currently in the night sky will follow the show.
