Night Hike with Telescopes

The night is alive at The Wilderness Center! Observe nocturnal wildlife undisturbed as we visit different habitats, experiencing the night with nature-friendly nightlights. Learn the importance of the dark sky to wildlife and humans alike as you reconnect with nature on a roughly 1-mile hike that engages your lesser used senses.

After your hike, weather permitting, join the Astronomy Club in TWC’s observatory to enjoy what the summer night sky has to offer through our telescopes.  You might even see a few Perseid meteors.  If the weather doesn’t cooperate there will be a “Tonight’s Sky" show in the planetarium.

Bring your red-light flashlight – white lights are not allowed on the trails at night. Don’t have a red-light flashlight? Bring your flashlight and we can make it red for you. Hiking boots and weather appropriate attire are recommended.
