Learn about Alaska's "Puffin Paradise"

Wednesday, October 18 - 5:30 PM

Jeffrey Hall, President of the Bartramian Audubon Society and an instructor at Slippery Rock University will be guest speaker. His photos and articles have appeared in Living Bird magazine, New Jersey Audubon magazine, Underwater Naturalist, and others. Hall collaborated on the recently published book, "Birds of Venango County." Tonight he will familiarize us with a group of tiny islands in the Bering Sea, which hosts the world's largest breeding colony of fur seals, and a wealth of nesting seabirds: fulmars, cormorants, kittiwakes, 3 species of auklets, and both tufted and horned puffins.

A pre-meeting bird walk behind the Exploration Gateway at Sippo Lake park will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the presentation at 7 p.m. The trail is flat and suitable for wheelchairs. Families with children are welcome. BYO binoculars or borrow from the club.
