Staff from the Canton Area League of Women Voters will speak on “LWV: Making Democracy Work” on Feb. 17 at the Community Christian Church, 210 N. Main St., North Canton.
The League was founded in 1920, just six months before the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. It was designed to help 20 million women carry out their new responsibilities as voters, and to use their new power to shape public policy.
The program is part of the monthly meeting of the College Club of Canton but is free and open to the public. The meeting begins at 10:15 a.m. and the program at 10:30.
The College Club is a nonprofit that provides scholarships and grants and promotes higher education among students and Stark County residents
