Now offering this NEW one time workshop online! How does a toothbrush become a paint brush? Can a fork and a rubber-band be an instrument? Can a mask become a parachute? Inspired by the exhibit "Retooled: Highlights From The Hechinger Collection", students will explore the exhibit virtually and discover how artists have used tools in their work. Then students will take their problem solving and creativity to a whole new level using items they use every day in a brand new way to make a Rube Goldberg invention! Students will learn about Rube Goldberg and Goldberg machines, and will be tasked with making a machine that can be used as a tool for creating art out of everyday items. Students will learn about simple machines and ways to make them and then create their own compound machines based on what they learn. This is a great workshops for kids to do with adult supervision including a scavenger hunt looking for tools to utilize around the house.
