Learn about the Yoruba resist-dye technique used to make adire oniko cloth. Adire comes from the Yoruba words ‘adi’ meaning to tie and ‘re’ meaning to dye.
Adire oniko involves creating small white circles on the blue dyed fabric background by wrapping raffia around small objects like pebbles or kernels or by tying small knots in the fabric.
Please note: We will be using concentrated liquid fabric dye meant to permanently dye fabrics. Please dress accordingly.
