Do you fly? There is a chance the ice protection system on your aircraft was tested in the Icing Research Tunnel (IRT) at NASA Glenn Research Center. In this, the first and one of the largest refrigerated tunnels in the world, we simulate flight through an icing cloud. Dr. Judith VanZante will will discuss the historical roots of the IRT, from its inception during World War II through its critical importance today for safety of flight.
