Beech Creek Botanical Garden and Nature Preserve will be having our 11th annual Garden Symposium on February 18, 2012 from 8:30am - 4:15pm. This year our keynote speaker will be Gregory Cada who will speak on "Thomas Jefferson: Landscape Architect."
The sessions will include"Tough Plants for Tough Places", "Junk Art Gardening", "Landscaping for Wildlife", "Quick and Easy Energizing Foods", "Square Foot Gardening", "Garden Science Simplified", and "Winter Gardening, Grow Fresh Greens All Seasons". There will also be a session and workshop available: "Miniature Gardening/Fairy Gardens".
The individual sessions are approximately 1 hour each and lunch is between the morning and afternoon sessions. You can bring your lunch or it can be purchased for $8.00. The food is being provided by Old Carolina Barbeque.
The Symposium is $35.00 for Beech Creek members or horticulture students and $45.00 for non members. There is a workshop fee of an additional $20.00 for the Miniature Garden/Fairy Garden session as you will make your own miniature garden to take home.
There will be vendors at the symposium for those in attendance which will include books, live plants, local honey, pottery, candles, potpourri, homemade foods and soaps, jewelry and garden supplies. The craft show will NOT be open to the public this year. We will also have exciting raffle baskets and door prizes for those attending.
